Volunteering with Special Olympics

Special Olympics Volunteering

A group of 12 bighearted BRSers had the opportunity to volunteer at the Special Olympics Fall Classic at the AMF Belleview Lanes on November 10, 2012.

We were honored to assist in the morning session, a singles bowling competition for participants eight years and older. With 50 divisions and over 175 awards given, Special Olympics has been hosting the bowling event for roughly 40 years now. Our group was among 90 volunteers that day—and we had an awesome time!

Split into two groups, the BRS gang had the opportunity to announce awards, hand out medals to the bowling participants, hold the banner for photographs, and play music for each division. It was amazing to see the joy and excitement in the participants’ eyes as they received their awards. We are truly excited for the opportunity to volunteer with Special Olympics at future events.
